Stagnantly Still

Stagnantly Still

I oftentimes feel that I'm falling behind.
It's like I'm rushing through life standing still
-- feeling that I have little time left to make a dent
-- which, funny enough, instead of hustling, I find myself stagnantly still.

And this state is affecting my creativity.

I guess everyone, at some point in their lives, have experienced or are experiencing the same thing.

I am immensely grateful that I am able to pursue a life filled with creativity, curiosity and experimentation. Slowly (and graciously), I am starting to incorporate 'creativity' back into my routine. I am still figuring it out, but writing this journal page is a start and a tangible accountability check whenever I would lose track again.

So here's a list, My Short List of How to Get Out of Being Stagnantly Still

  1. Lessen mindless stimulation, mindless scrolling, mindless entertainment
  2. Create something/ anything everyday and stop trying to be a perfectionist (develop a sketchbook practice, art experiment, journal pages, et.al.)
  3. Have a be-the-main-character-of-your-life moments and take ownership
  4. Get involved - take classes to learn a new skill or improve on an existing skill, join art challenges, et.al.
  5. Start documenting life again. No matter how mundane
  6. Be forgiving on/of myself. Unlearning bad habits is hard -- if I fail some times, it's okay -- as long as I get back to it and try again
  7. Schedule out-of-the-routine mini adventures within the week or on weekends
  8. Make lists
  9. Start that picture book!
  10. Intentionally find ways to connect with people (on- and off-line)

Let's do this!
